Expect a 10% instant discount on a partner bank's cards. With Flipkart taking Axis and ICICI, Amazon will most likely go with SBI or HDFC.

Our best estimate is that the sale opens on 9 October 2026, with Prime members getting access from 8 October. Some chance remains that Amazon opens to everyone on 8 October.

The logic is simple. Flipkart has confirmed that Big Billion Days starts on 9 October, with early access on 8 October for Plus, Black and Flipkart credit card members. Amazon has opened its festival on the same day as Flipkart's public start for the last several years, most recently on 23 September 2025. Diwali also falls late this year, on 8 November, and Navratri begins on 11 October. Late festivals push the sale into October, just as they did in 2023.

Amazon sales usually open at 12:00 AM, and early access to Prime members has typically been 24 hours ahead. Expect the first week to carry the biggest launch deals, followed by Dussehra and Diwali refresh waves that keep the festival running into November.

If you see 23 September on some site, ignore it. That was last year's date.

Amazon's start date moves around depending on when Diwali falls. Here is how the last four editions ran:

Flipkart has announced a 10% instant discount on Axis Bank and ICICI Bank cards for Big Billion Days. In Great Indian Festival 2025, Amazon offered 10% instant discount on SBI credit and debit cards and EMI transactions, and SBI was also its headline bank in 2022. In the Great Freedom Sale this August, Amazon used HDFC Bank credit cards and EasyEMI transactions for the same 10% discount.

So our prediction is SBI first, HDFC second, with a 10% instant discount and a cap per card and per order. Amazon Pay ICICI Bank credit card holders will very likely keep their standard cashback too. Prime members earn unlimited 5% cashback on Amazon purchases with that card.

One practical tip: check your bank's terms before the sale. Caps and minimum order values decide how much you actually save. And avoid paying any part of your order with Amazon Pay balance, because in the August sale even a partial balance payment made orders ineligible for the HDFC discount.

Amazon hasn't confirmed early access for 2026, but Prime members have received it in every recent festive sale. In 2025, Prime members got 24 hours of early access starting 22 September, a day before the public start. If the sale opens publicly on 9 October, expect Prime early access from 8 October.

Early access matters because the most wanted items, such as flagship phones, TVs and laptops, often sell out in the first hours. Getting in a day early gives you first pick. Amazon also ran "Early Deals" from 13 September last year, so watch for pre-festival offers before the main sale begins.

Flipkart's early access also lands on 8 October, for its own members. If you have both memberships, you get two early-access windows on the same day.

Is Amazon Great Indian Festival 2026 Better Than Flipkart Big Billion Days?

Honestly, neither wins everywhere. The better sale depends on what you're buying and which card you hold.

Flipkart's biggest advantage this year is certainty. Its dates and bank offers are already public, so you can plan around them. It also has a lineup of timed deal formats, including Price Crash, Tick Tock Deals, Brand Hours, Double Discount and Rush Hours, which can produce very sharp cuts on select models. Plus members are reported to get a slightly higher bank discount, around 12% on the partner cards.

Amazon's strengths are different. Prime members get early access and quick delivery, and Amazon's own devices, such as Echo, Fire TV and Kindle, usually hit their lowest prices of the year there. Its Amazon Pay ICICI card gives a steady 5% cashback. The tools also stand out. Our advice is to check the same product on both sites before you buy. Add the bank discount, coupons and exchange value, and compare the final price. On a phone like the iPhone, the effective price can differ by thousands of rupees between platforms.

What Deals Can We Expect During Amazon Great Indian Festival 2026?
